Kelvin temperature when referring to light is based on the the color emitted by a black body radiator based on the characteristic of its temperature.
Kelvin lighting. LED lamps are available in a wide range of light colors from cold white to warm white. You can hang it from your ceiling or mount it flush. Relying only on a rough description such as warm white can later lead to disappointment.
Kelvin is not a measure of brightness rather it is a measure of color temperature. And these values are used to describe the color emitted from fixtures when working with lighting. It is measured in degrees of Kelvin K on a scale from 1000 to 10000.
A warm light actually casts a reddish or orange glow on objects. The spectrum of color temperatures is assigned numerical values measured in degrees of Kelvin. And in short the higher the Kelvin rating expressed in K the whiter the light will be.
The following diagram shows the color range used in lighting with the most common 5000 Kelvin indicated. LED lamps are available in a wide range of light colors from cold white to warm white. Typically Kelvin temperatures for commercial and residential lighting applications fall somewhere on.
Kelvin is the decisive value for describing the color temperature or light color. At the lower end of the scale from 2000K to 3000K the light produced is called warm white and ranges from orange to yellow-white in appearance. Kelvin is the physical unit for the color temperature of the emitted light.
Light color or color temperature is measured using the Kelvin scale. In general though 5000K or cooldaylight white will a appear brighter than 2700K all things being equal but this is due to the higher contrast of such light. Once its plugged in just pull the handy chain to turn it on and off.
